As I played the game, I used my pre-conception of 21st century America, with all its ideals of democracy and good race relations, in my choices. Therefor, I think I suffered on the morale issue when I made everyone work, and on the security issue because i never imagined anyone would want to attack me. How did you do?

I had plenty of food for my colonists. The gentlemen were greatly displeased with me because I made them work. Tough for them- we needed food, gosh darn it! We didn't find any gold, but that's not really my fault. I PROBABLY shouldn't have built my town right on the ocean. I bet they weren't all too happy being sitting ducks for the Spanish. I didn't really play by what the colonists ACTUALLY would have done. For example, I opted to not kill the natives, but that's just me.

I played 4 more times and was promoted to Governor of Virginia! Buahahaha.

I had plenty of food, didn't make everyone work, so the "upper class" was happy with me. I picked the wrong place however to put my location. I thought that inland off of the beach, and away from the mountains, would be the best spot to put the colony, but it was prone to malaria, etc. I decided to trade with the Native Americans, which provided me with more food. But to me, it seems like tobacco would have been a good thing to grow, because you could trade it, and sell it to the upper class, which would be a luxury item, which would raise moral.......

my colonists were very hungry, we did find gold, and i chose not to attack the native americans...thats how my experience with the game went

I decided to go inland, which seemed to help in the search for gold. I made all my colonists work, which created much food but little happiness. I also traded with the natives, which seemed to work out. I wasn't attacked either. Heatlth was low, however. Maybe this is due to the place i was.

I picked an awful place to land and build. It was a marshy bay area which made malaria and disease plentiful. I made the gentlemen work too danielle, i agree we need food and we had plenty of it! The indians were happy we wanted to trade with them. They are such nice people.

I played the game and survived unlike Jenn i did everything much like the colonists did it but was unable to find riches and in the end our health was poor because of the workers inablity in finding gold The gentle men were mad at me because they had to work but in the end they were pleased because they had accoplished something

I chose to settle my colony in a marshy area near the coast. This was a poor choice, even though that is were the real colonists settled. this area yields disease and poor crops. To the great dismay of my gentlemen, I had them work to provide food and shelter. Another poor decision was building a town instead of a fortress, this made the colonists vulnerable to attack. I chose to trade with the natives, which turned out to be a good decision, as they traded valuable crops.

Well, as everyone knows I unfortunatly killed all my colonists the second time around. I think it's because i attacked the Native Americans and went looking for gold and fishing instead of hunting. I think this was a problem. But the first time i played all my colonists lived, they were just living poorly, but LIVING!! thats all that really matters. and fyi i'm probably going to go home and play this game until i win! haha

Well i did good, i had plenty of food and although the wheat didn't grow to well it added to our already flourishing supply. By fishing and hunting and not looking for gold, i got more food instead in both areas. i traded with the indians, therfore making friends :) and made everybody work, which like danielle said upset the men, but they'll get over it! Plus i got promoted to governer!

ajames said...

yeah, i made the guys do all the work, but they can get over it. we had plenty of food for everyone though...so we all lived! i ended up trading with natives so that there would be peace among us and was also very wealthy. i decided to choose what people would have today, well what most people would have at least...except for the castle, i just liked that. the colonists were content all except for the men, i would have had help from everyone if it were a choice.

I guess I did okay. The people had plenty of food, we traded with the natives, and made everyone work. A lot of the upper-class were a little angry because they all were treated as equals. I built a village on the coast which was not helpful from attacks but it didn't disrupt the natives. Overall, a successful village

My colonists had plenty of food, which is always good. We didn't attack the Indians, so we had some good relations with them and we got some tobacco. We planted a lot of wheat, which didn't do so hot, but the corn did really well. I was promoted to the governer of Virginia! Everyone's not really happy because we didn't go looking for gold, but its okay because there wasn't any there in the first place, and we went hunting instead. I'm pretty sure the actual colonists didn't make the same decisions as me because things like security didn't work out as well as they did for me

My colonists had enough food, gaining corn from Indians and had sucess in hunting. Our health was poor due to being attacked. Our wealth was good because we traded with the indians and searched for gold, but only found pyrite. The colonists are dissapointed that they didnt find gold and are upset that they have to work.

To avoid the attacks of the immagrants of spain i headed inland. I decided to trade with the native americans to avoid there scalpings, they attacked my colonists anyway.. jerks! anywho i had men hunting and collecting gold as well as grow corn, tobacco, and wheat. I had a rich colony but they all were pretty much dead anyway.

I chose to land my ship on the sea coast, as it was near water, (theoretically for fishing) yet had plenty of land. For the most part, everything ended well with health being fair, along with the food supply. Trading was a good decision in that the Native Americans provided a fair amount of food for us.

After I had finished the game I had plenty of food but from my non racial decisions and making everyone work their moral was down and I had made them quite upset. From my decisions they were able to survive without any attacks but I went against alot of the what the colonists wanted to do.

rmanzi said...

Everything ended up as fair. they had enough food to survive on but they needed more to be happy. the gentlemen did not enjoy the work but i thought they needed to do it anyways to help out the others.

My settlement was over all a "fair" place to live. My food suply was very good, i traded for corn with the indians and grew grain which did not grow very well. I looked for gold but did not find any this did not get the moral of the colonist very hight. I made the decition to have everyone work which was probobly the opposite that they would have done. It was interesting to se how 21 century knowlege would fair in creating a new settlement

I had good overall stats. My Food was adequate, my morale was good, wealth, and health were all good. I was promoted to govenor. I built a village which was clean, but defensless. I also made friends with the natives.

Ya, so I settled in the sheltered bay, sought peace, built a town, grew corn, wheat, and tobacco. I will rule the world.

kmulherin said...

round 2, I recklessly chose to land on spanish soil, attack the indians, make everyone work, search for gold, and grow tobacco.
Soooo, my colonists are hungry, my town is destroyed, but, amist all this sucktitude, my town is wealthy. Unfortunately, all my colonists are dead from Indian counterattack and disease.

I like kyler settled inland and grew corn wheat and tobacco and traded with the natives, got promoted to governor and all of that stuff. I probably should of built a fort but people were happy.

cbarry said...

Choosing a spot on the coast to settle a wooden fort was a good idea. As well as having only the laborors labor and the gentlemen do what it is that gentlemen did back then. I grew corn and plenty of "sassafras"-still having not recieved an answer as to what it was- which kept the colonists content. I decided to trade with the native americans and seeing as how I have been promoted to the governor of Virginia, all went well and everyone was happy.

I had plenty of food and traded with the native people so my colonists were happy.

from this game i learned that there were many decisions for the settlers to make. and with all of these decisions came great responsibility. many times the choices were not reversable and had bad consequences. i now have a deeper understanding of how hard life was for the settlers.

I chose to settle on the bay and build a wooden fort which gave me a good defense. I decided to trade with the indians creating peace and chose to hunt and fish. All my colonist worked. My colonist disliked working and were upset that I chose not to trade for gold. Everyone's healthy and I am very wealthy from trade.

P.S. I got promoted to Govenor of Virgina! yay me!
